Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia was formed on 26th September 2001, in response to humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
It was initiated and led by the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia backed by volunteers and relief workers with years of experience in relief efforts for Palestine, Afghanistan (Russian war), Bosnia, Kosovo and South East Asian countries. Since then, GPM has extended its relief programs to Kashmir, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Sudan, Philippines, Indonesia and Pakistan.
For more than two decades and under various names, GPM has provided emergency assistances to various communities in southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa as well as the East Europe who where devastated by war and natural disaster. Other than relief mission we are also able to deliver rehabilitation program.
Thus gradually GPM is becoming an international relief and development agency, working to alleviate suffering among the world’s poorest and most needy communities, regardless the race, creed, gender, nationality or political inclination.
Through generous donations, GPM has been able to provide help to thousand of people in many communities around the world. Besides having our own offices like in Peshawar, Sarajevo, Mansehra and Banda Aceh, we also work in partnership with local community-based organizations. This approach is not only cost effective but also instrumental in building the capacity of local people to help themselves.
GPM also, is the founding members of Union of NGO’s Of Islamic World (UNIW), which is based at Istanbul, Turkey. In 2006, GPM has been appointed as the Commissioner of Humanity, Solidarity and Unity of the UNIW which responsible to design and implement the activities for the Muslim NGO around the world.
